Solar Plexus Chakra – Manipura

The Manipura or Solar Plexus chakra is the 3rd chakra in the chakra system and is located above the navel. It is the core of our personality, identity, the center of our willpower, self assertion and leadership. The 10 petals or Vrittis meaning “waves” or “ripples” of disturbance are: spiritual ignorance,  thirst, jealousy, treachery, shame, fear, disgust, delusion, foolishness and sadness. The Solar Plexus chakra governs how dominate a person is, it is also the center of our true personality, our likes/dislikes, and provides initiative, courage, enthusiasm, control and discipline. The Solar Plexus is heavily connected to our egos and determines the type of people we attract in our lives, and the things we attract as well. As the seat of our desires it determines our ability to manifest what we want into existence. The Solar Plexus Chakra is what gives you that “feeling in your gut” about a person or situation and is the main storage of our primary energy, sometimes translated as “prana” ,“breath” or “vital force”.

Closed/Blocked Solar Plexus Chakra

A person with a closed or blocked Solar Plexus Chakra will lack assertion and posses a lot of cowardly traits. They lack the ability to take initiative and take the lead. They have no idea what it means to be their own leader so they tend to gravitate and follow anyone that gives them good advice and develop an unhealthy co-dependent relationship. Having a lack of determination and will power they will often fall short of achieving their goals. Having a very unhealthy ego, they are terribly insecure, have low self-esteem and have very little to no knowledge of self, they are also easily manipulated due to their lack of self worth. Someone with a closed or blocked Solar Plexus chakra lacks the ability to manifest what they desire, even though they may start many projects, they will always quit when the going gets tough. They are passive and inactive and allow life to pass by while they do nothing.

Unbalanced Solar Plexus Chakra

Someone with an unbalanced Solar Plexus Chakra is overly assertive, often they are control freaks or someone who rules with an iron fist. Cocky and arrogant they are heavily influenced by ego and feel as they they know whats best for themselves (and others) so they do not feel the need to listen or take advice from anyone. They posses a strong will power and the ability to manifest their desires, however, their desires are almost always ego based so they manifest what they feel will increase their value in the eyes of others. Since they are ruled by ego when they express emotions they are of a lower vibration and when angered or triggered their ego will get the best of them and they will act/react illogically.

Balanced Solar Plexus Chakra

A person that posses a balanced Solar Plexus Chakra is a natural leader, they they have a quiet confidence that is self assertive and dominate with out being cocky or arrogant. They are courageous, have strong will power, high moral standard, and they have the ability to meet any goals they set for themselves. Having a strong sense of self they are able to listen their intuition and keep their emotions in check. They also use their strong interpersonal skills to lead (not command) others. Someone with a harmonious solar plexus does not feel the need to show off, as they are content within themselves.
